PAUL'S PRIORITIES
AFFORDABILITY
California families are facing a cost-of-living crisis, driven by skyrocketing housing costs and grocery prices. Paul believes we must take bold action to make life more affordable while ensuring Californians have access to safe and secure housing.
In the Assembly, Paul will work to lower the cost of living by tackling rising housing costs, increasing access to affordable healthcare, and reducing grocery prices. He supports policies that build more housing responsibly, and cuts red tape, while protecting neighborhoods and respecting high-risk fire zones.
Paul also believes we must ensure that housing and affordability solutions are tied to good-paying jobs, so that families can thrive without being priced out of the communities where they work. By partnering with local leaders, developers, and community organizations, he will fight to make housing more accessible, make life more affordable for families, and strengthen California’s economy for everyone.
Public Safety
As someone who served in the U.S. Army as well as a prosecutor in the L.A. County District Attorney’s office and now as Deputy Attorney General for California, Paul Seo believes we must do more to improve public safety. That’s why in the State Assembly, Paul will partner with law enforcement and work to increase funding for more police, deputy sheriffs, prosecutors, peace officers and Highway Patrol officers.
In addition to more law enforcement officers, Paul will work to ensure they have the tools and resources they need to reduce crime, improve community-based policing, combat gun violence, all while keeping local neighborhoods and communities safe.
Beyond law enforcement, Paul believes it’s abundantly clear that we must do more to fully fund our city, county and state fire departments. We need more firefighters, more equipment, more technology, more gear and resources. With fire seasons getting longer, extreme heat becoming more common and fires getting worse year after year, Paul will join forces with fire officials in the legislature to ensure California does more to invest in fire departments so they can continue to keep us safe.
More Good Jobs
Paul Seo is a dues paying union member and understands the critical importance of having a good paying, middle class job. In the Assembly, Paul will work with labor unions and businesses to ensure California builds a stronger, more durable and robust economy.
Paul believes that we must create an economic environment where California businesses big and small, including iconic industries like our Ports, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, universities and more, can and must thrive here at home so that we can protect the good-paying jobs of today.
At the same time, we must attract new businesses, harness, invest in and promote new technologies and industries, so that in addition to safeguarding the jobs of today, we also simultaneously create and increase the abundance of the good jobs of tomorrow.
Homelessness
It's clear California has failed to address the homelessness crisis that is impacting communities across the state. Paul believes the government must do a better job of holding homelessness initiatives accountable, cutting red tape, and working faster to get people off the streets and into safe, stable housing or mental healthcare programs.
That’s why Paul will work closely with local city and county leaders to develop targeted, commonsense approaches that provide immediate relief for unhoused individuals while addressing the broader housing crisis.
Climate Change
With the Trump Administration gutting critical investments in climate change fighting technologies, California must do more to meet this moment for the people of our state.
That means investing more in clean, renewable energy like wind and solar to help with the growing demand for power in our state. At the same time, California must hold polluters accountable and do more to protect clean air and water, especially in regions located by ports and airports, like ours.
We must also do more to safeguard our pristine coast and green spaces, ensuring that future generations can enjoy them just like we can.
Healthcare & Reproductive CARE
A strong supporter of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act, Paul believes deeply in universal healthcare, because every Californian deserves access to high quality, affordable healthcare.
With Donald Trump gutting Medicaid funding for our most vulnerable, Paul will work in the State Assembly to help expand coverage for those who need it.
Paul also believes that California must protect access to safe, legal abortion for all. That’s why he was a strong supporter of Prop. 1 in the 2024 election which on the heels of the US Supreme Court throwing out Roe v. Wade, California enshrined the right to safe, legal abortions in the state’s constitution.
Education
For too long, California’s schools have trailed other states in public education. As a parent with two young children, Paul understands the critical importance of ensuring our children get a world-class education.
That’s why in the legislature, Paul will partner with classroom teachers and public educators to develop plans to increase pay for public educators so we can retain and attract talented workers, reduce classroom sizes so our students can get the attention they deserve, invest more in new technologies for classrooms to enhance learning, priorities STEM courses, ensure school campuses are modernized with HVAC systems so kids have adequate learning environments, and bolster extracurricular and after-school programs like the arts and sports so that our children can have access to more enrichment programs.
Small Businesses
As the son of parents who were small business owners, Paul Seo knows firsthand that small businesses represent the backbone of California's dynamic economy. That's why in the State Assembly, Paul will be a partner and advocate for our local small businesses, working to cut red tape and burdensome bureaucratic processes to help ensure small businesses can function in a productive business environment. He will also work to ensure communities are safe so local small businesses can operate without the fear of ongoing crime.
